Few would dispute that the term applied to theUnabomber, whose manifesto, published in 1995 , scorns science and longs for return to apretechnological utopia.

Few would dispute that...。that引导的宾语从句的主干为the term applied to theUnabomber。Unabomber后面跟了一个whose引导的非限定性定语从句，该从句的主干为manifesto scorns science and longs for return...，其中过去分词短语published in 1995为插入语。句中the Unabomber是university and airline bomber的缩略形式，指的是美国邮包炸弹杀手Theodore Kaczynski(凯辛斯基)。

The idea that learning should take place by continual careful shaping and molding appliesequally to the arts.

　　apply sth.to把…

短语apply oneself to与put one's heart into意思相近，可以互换。

Don’t apply for that job-you’re in danger of overreaching yourself.

What is the fee to file for office?
