中国父母往往过于关注孩子的学习，以致于不要他们帮忙做家务。他们对孩子的首要要求就是努力学习。考得好，能上名牌大学。他们相信这是为孩子好，因为在中国这样竞争激烈的社会里，只有成绩好才能保证前途光明。中国父母还认为，如果孩子能在社会上取得大的成就，父母就会受到尊重。因此，他们愿意牺牲自己的时间，爱好和兴趣，为孩子提供更好的条件。

Chinese parents are often overly concerned about their children’s study so that the kids would skip household duties. Primary requirement for their children is to study hard because doing well in the exam can bring their children to a famous university. They believe this is good for their children because only a good result can secure a promising future in such a Chinese society with big competition. They also believe that greater achievements their children can make, the more honored they will be. Therefore, they are willing to sacrifice their time, hobbies and interests only for providing the children with better conditions.

1.中国父母往往【过于关注】孩子的学习，以致于不要他们帮忙做【家务】。

Chinese parents are often overly concerned about their children’s study so that the kids would skip household duties.

第一句“...以至...”用so that 进行连接，“过于”可以用副词overly来表示，关于【家务】主要表达有housework，household duties或者chores. 不要他们做家务这里用了一个词skip 叫做“跳过“ 就是不做了。

2.他们对孩子的首要要求就是努力学习。考得好，能上【名牌大学】。

Primary requirement for their children is to study hard because doing well in the exam can bring their children to a famous university.

这一句其实暗含逻辑关系，要努力学习因为考好了可以上名校，所以可以选择用because来连接。名牌大学：famous university，brand-name university，prestigious university 都可以。

3.他们相信这是为孩子好，因为在中国这样【竞争激烈的社会】里，只有成绩好才能保证前途光明。

They believe this is good for their children because only a good result can secure a promising future in such a Chinese society with big competition.

词句结构清楚，不难翻译。竞争激烈的社会可以表达成 competitive society，society with intense competition，而big competition也是一个相当地道的表达。

4.中国父母还认为，如果孩子能在社会上取得大的成就，父母就会受到尊重。

They also believe that greater achievements their children can make, the more honored they will be.

第二版：

今年在长沙举行了一年一度的外国人汉语演讲比赛。这项比赛证明是促进中国和世界其他地区文化交流的好方法。它为世界各地的年轻人提供了更好地了解中国的机会。来自87个国家共计126位选手聚集在湖南省省会参加了从7月6日到8月5日进行的半决赛和决赛。比赛并不是唯一的活动。选手们还有机会参观了中国其他地区的著名景点和历史名胜。

The annual Mandarin Speech Contest for foreigners has been held in Changsha this year. This contest is proved to be a good way to promote the cultural interchange between China and other regions of the world. It gives young people all over the world a chance to better understand China. A total of 126 contestants from 87 countries converged in the capital of Hunan province and have gone through the semifinals and finals from July 6th to August 5th. While the competition is not the only activity. Contestants also have the opportunity to visit famous attractions and historic spots in other regions of China.

一年一度叫做annual就可以了。而汉语演讲比赛可能很多同学不一定能写出Mandarin Speech Contest，那么写Chinese Speech Contest也是可以接受的。

这一句关键要看出隐含的被动，“被证明是...”我们也常提到叫做be proved to be 

3.它为世界各地的年轻人提供了更好地了解中国的机会。

It gives young people all over the world a chance to better understand China. 

4.来自87个国家【共计】126位选手【聚集】在湖南省省会参加了从7月6日到8月5日进行的【半决赛和决赛】。

A total of 126 contestants from 87 countries converged in the capital of Hunan province and have gone through the semifinals and finals from July 6th to August 5th.

聚集：同学们可以用最常见的gather半决赛和决赛叫做 semifinal 和 final 就可以了

5.比赛并不是唯一的活动。选手们还有机会参观了中国其他地区的【著名景点和历史名胜】。

While the competition is not the only activity. Contestants also have the opportunity to visit famous attractions and historic spots in other regions of China. 

整句中可能会难住考生的也许就是最后的词汇“著名景点”和“历史名胜”，这些词汇是在平时课程中强调过属于常考的特色词汇

著名景点：famous attractions/ scenic spots

历史名胜：historic spots，historical places of interest

第三版：

云南省的丽江古镇是中国著名的旅游目的地之一。那里的生活节奏比大多数中国的城市都要缓慢。丽江到处都是美丽的自然风光，众多的少数民族同胞提供了各式各样，丰富多彩的文化让游客体验。历史上，丽江还以“爱之城”而闻名。当地人中流传着许多关于人生，为爱而死的故事。如今，在中外游客眼中，这个古镇被视为爱情和浪漫的天堂。（paradise）

Lijiang, an ancient town in Yunnan Province, is one of the famous tourist destinations in China. The tempo of life there is slower than that of most of the China cities. Beautiful natural landscape can be seen everywhere in Lijiang, and tourists can experience various and colorful culture provided by many ethnic minorities. Lijiang is also known to the world as the “city of love” in history. A number of stories about life and dying for love have widely spread among the natives. Today, in the eyes of tourists both at home and abroad, the ancient town is regarded as a paradise of love and romance.

第一句，不难，只是需要把“丽江古镇”拆开一下，变成“丽江，云南的一个古镇，...”做一个插入语的处理。

2.那里的【生活节奏】比大多数中国的城市都要缓慢。

The tempo of life there is slower than that of most of the China cities. 

生活节奏：living tempo 或pace of life 。这个词汇也是平时翻译写作常见的一个必备词汇。

3. 丽江到处都是美丽的【自然风光】，众多的【少数民族同胞】提供了各式各样，丰富多彩的文化让游客体验。

Beautiful natural landscape can be seen everywhere in Lijiang, and tourists can experience various and colorful culture provided by many ethnic minorities. 

这句话稍长，前半句可以直续，也可以处理成被动的形式，“美丽的风光哪里都有”

自然风光：natural scenery/ landscape 

少数民族同胞：这里“同胞”我们要用到词意的省略，可以直接不用翻译，所以少数民族就是(national) minorities,或 ethnic minorities

4.历史上，丽江还以“爱之城”而【闻名】。当地人中【流传】着许多关于人生，【为爱而死】的故事。

以...闻名：be known as...
